Office Manager / Receptionist
Joined the Practice: 1977
My journey with the Mt. Washington Animal Clinic began in August 1977 as I would help my brother Dr. Cecil, and his wife with their quickly growing business.
I would help wherever needed as an "extra" hand. I began answering phones, making appointments, greeting the clients and their pets, filing, charting, etc... and helping with my 3 growing nieces when needed. Now more than 37 years later my responsibilities have expanded to the office manager of the clinic. The opportunities that I have been given have grown me in many ways. I enjoy people and their pets, and feel God has placed me in a career where I can truly "Enrich Peoples Lives Thru Healthy Loving Pets". Due to my length of time working with Dr. Cecil and our team, I have met many wonderful clients and now find myself meeting their children and grandchildren that I knew as they were growing up. They are now pet owners and return to our office for veterinary care with their new family additions. My clients are like family to me, and I strive to meet their needs, whatever that may be. I hope your visit with our office and team is enhoyable and that you will be excited to invite your friends and family to join us as you have.

Having 3 dogs, 3 cats, a rabbit, and a fish. I obviously love animals. Since I was a child I always wanted to work with animals, but I wasn't one of those kids who wanted to be a veterinarian when I grew up. Instead, I always wanted to be the veterinarians' assistant. Well, now that I'm grown up, I am exactly that! Working at the Mt. Washington Animal Clinic is a blessing and a privilege. I don't just have a "job" I get to come to work and do what I love to do. Helping people and their furry family members is what I take the most pride in doing. I wear many hats at the clinic. I can go from a nurse to a phlebotomist to a receptionist in an instant, I am very proud of all the things I can do and what I learn on a day to day basis. Along with my position as a technician I also manage the Facebook page for the clinic and partner with Jean in running the kennel. When you come see me at the clinic you can rest easy in knowing that I will care for your pets as I would my own when they are here for an extended stay or for a routine exam. When you have a career in the animal field it's something you can't "turn off". Most of my free time is spent volunteering with Alley Cat Advocates, taking my dogs for walks, and playing with my cats! I am married to a wonderful man who embraces my love for animals.
We don't have human children, only our furry ones who mean the world to us! That's a little bit about myself, I look forward to meeting you and getting to know your 4 legged babies.
Meet Our Team:
Dr. Jim Cecil
Veterinarian / Owner
In 1972 I gradutated from Auburn University School of Veterinary medicine. Then in 1975 I started Mt. Washington Animal Clinic in a small house on Bardstown Rd. My family and I lived upstairs while I practiced veterinary medicine in the basement. "Those were the days" in 1978 I was able to build the present office, with 9 foot ceilings! My interest has always been in helping people by helping animals, particularly family pets. In my younger years that included chickens, ducks, sheep, goats, pigs, cows, and horses. With time, my veterinary practice has evolved to primarily dogs and cats.
I now own a farm where we raise grassfed beef, sometimes sheep, and a few chickens. We have 3 outside guardian dogs, 1 house dog, and 2 horses. I also enjoy spending time with my three daughters and 7 grandchildren.

When I was eight years old, I watched my beloved German Shepherd get hit and killed by a car. Despite my grief, I thought "I must learn to do what I can to help". I never changed my mind.
Thirty years after obtaining my Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (Purdue, 1984), I am sure it was the right path for me. It is an honor and a privilege caring for pets and their people. Though I love general practice and internal medicine best, some special people and animals encouraged me to expand my horizons. Several years on the "Paws with Purpose" Board of Directors led to an interest in behavior and training, and I became a "Certified Canine Rehabilitation Therapist". I maintain my sanity by not working too much, though my days are filled with other animal related activities. I am on the Board of Directors for Alley Cat Advocates, and volunteer at their monthly "Big Fix". I also am on the Board of Directors for the National Wolfwatcher Coalition, an advocacy group for wolves. I live with my husband, Jaimie on our hobby farm, with horses, a donkey, a sheep, pigs, goats, geese, chickens, and, of course, dogs and cats. Tending to my husband, children, grandchildren and animals round out my days. Usually, I am also building something!

I am from Arizona and grew up around the world. Growing up, I always loved animals and my uncle was a veterinarian and he inspired me in many ways to want to care for animals. During schooling, I focused on the Arts and Marketing. Moving to Kentucky gave me the opportunity to try and live out my childhood dream of helping animals as a career. I love being a tech and learning every single day on the job. I have two cats and a dog at home: Boots, Coco and Olive.

I graduated from Brown Mackie's Veterinary Technician program in September 2015. Shortly after that I was licensed. I have two dogs, two cats, a potbelly pig, chickens and turkeys. I've known from a young age this is what I was meant to do.

I have always had a strong passion for animals. Whether it is volunteering with the humane society, training/showing dogs or rescuing stray or hurt animals, you will always find me doing what I love most. Aside from working at the clinic my second job is being a full time mommy. I have a wonderful son, one cat and two dogs that have my whole heartt! I have a huge interest in wildlife. In 2013 I reciebed my certification as a wildlife rehabilitator. My goal is to always be there to help any animal of any species when I am needed. Being a vet tech is my dream job! I love every minute of what I do. I take pride in my many tasks here at the clinic. I promise to always treat your furry family members as one of my own!
